Chris Claremont from the archives (7/10/00)

Download this episode (10 min)
Back in July, 2000 I had legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont on the air with me on the eve of the first X-Men movie arriving in theaters.

I was going through some old archive boxes and was ecstatic to find this interview tucked safely away on an old DAT.

Here, for the first time in seven years, is a chance to hear Claremont talk about the enduring success of Marvel's mutants and his thoughts on the then-new X-Men movie franchise.

Jason Hall

Download this episode (28 min)
THIS WEEK:
Beware the Creeper...Trigger...Pistolwhip. Writer Jason Hall has been cranking out great stories for years, and with a handful of exciting books on the way (including a Hellboy animated adaptation, more Star Wars, more JLU), it seemed like a good time to check in with him.

A bit of an explanation

Download this episode (5 min)
Welcome to STUN's new web home. But why a new home? WHY?

Since mypodcast.com won't let me create a post without attaching audio to it, I went ahead and recorded an audio explanation, or "State of STUN," that provides far more information than you need.

Thanks for your support of STUN--tell your friends about the show! That is, unless they don't like comics. They'd just be annoyed.

Hero on the Halfshell: Jim Lawson

Download this episode (15 min)
This week:
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are returning to the silver screen this month, so it’s a perfect time to check in with Mirage Studios and writer/artist Jim Lawson. Lawson’s been with Mirage since the very early days, and his work has been a constant presence on the Turtles books ever since, including the TMNT and Tales of the TMNT titles. He’s also put his talents into a handful of other fine Mirage projects (Dino Island, Paleo, Planet Racers).

Lawson talks about his longevity, the Turtles, and the strange inconsistencies with the TMNT publishing schedule in a year of heightened Turtles awareness.

Wight Writes Right Stuff

Download this episode (11 min)
THIS WEEK:

ERIC WIGHT

Wight’s the talented artist whose work most famously served as the comic art for “The O.C.” His recent TOKYOPOP release, “My Dead Girlfriend,” is a must-read graphic novel for anyone who had an awkward time in high school, is an incurable romantic, or who likes death and monsters. “My Dead Girlfriend” was originally pitched by Wight to Cartoon Network–their loss is the comic industry’s gain.

Wight also did the art for one of the breakout stories from the superb “Action Comics Annual” #10–the Mon-El story.

Find out more about him, and jump on his speeding bandwagon now!

Production note:
Skype, my VOIP by default, was extra cantankerous during the recording of this session. If Eric sounds extra digital and choppy, it’s not his fault. I did my best in “post” to clean up the interview. Another example of why podcasts are free…

Convention Talk with Patrick Brower

Download this episode (36 min)
THIS WEEK:

STUN Executive Producer (and General Manager of Graham Crackers Comics) Patrick Brower stops by the studio to discuss the comics convention circuit, specifically the recent New York Comicon.

Brower also talks about his upcoming inking project, “The Mas********,” which will appear in a TROMA graphic novel this summer!

Also, this episode wasn't edited. Not even a little. STUN reserves the right to be lazy.
